Born in the Fairest Cape, Ilana Sraier-Phillips left South Africa at the age of 15 to complete her secondary education at Mosenson High School, Hod Hasharon. In 1990, she came to live in Israel and studied English Literature and Linguistics at Tel Aviv University. She later qualified as an English teacher at Seminar Hakibbutzim and taught for a number of years before training as a Pedagogical Editor at Eric Cohen Books.

For over 11 years, Ilana has been writing and editing educational materials for ESL teaching, but her real passion is travel writing. She presently works as a freelance writer and editor from her home on Kibbutz Lehavot Haviva.
